01
Taxis Are Unsafe and Unreliable:
As a partner to the industry, we have implemented strict policies that govern all our service providers to ensure we are able to offer safe and reliable transport solutions to our clients.

02
Taxis Only serve the poor:
Our on going projects include making the taxi industry attractive to all economic segments in South Africa, including the middle and upper class.

03
Taxis Contribute Negatively to Traffic
While taxis are active users of our road network, they play a critical role in reducing the number of individual vehicles on the road. With strong public–private partnerships and increased private sector confidence, the industry can significantly ease traffic congestion.

Taxis Are Not Environmentally Friendly
Our 2035 Vision is to realise a diversified use of Taxis and their networks by making the industry more accessible and useful to all Johannesburg residents. We believe that this will lead to fewer vehicles on the road and ultimately benefiting the environment.

The Industry Is Not Contributing to the Economy
The taxi industry remains a powerful engine of economic activity—supporting thousands of drivers, owners, and support staff, while generating substantial revenue across related sectors such as vehicle maintenance, insurance, banking, and fuel. Through our Public–Private Initiatives, we aim to deepen its integration into the formal economy and unlock even greater economic impact.
